Hummus with Pita Bread & Lavash

Hummus is something I have very often with my friends over Coffee and Conversations ;)

Hummus is a popular Middle East dish which is made with Chickpeas, Tahini and a few more ingredients.

It is extremely easy to make.

This was my first attempt and it turned out fab :)

For more info, you can check Wikipedia ;)

Cooked Chickpeas

Ingredients

1 cup Chickpeas, soaked in water overnight
4 tsp Tahini
2 tsp crushed Garlic Paste
Salt - 1 tsp to be added while cooking Chickpeas in the pressure cooker and 1 tsp to be added while making the Hummus paste
1 tsp Paprika Powder
3 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp Chaat Masala Powder
1 tsp Nutmeg Powder
Parsley leaves for garnishing
6-8 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Method

Pressure cook the overnight soaked Chickpeas. Add 1 tsp salt and replace the overnight soaked water with fresh water. Remove it from the flame after 4-5 whistles or when cooked. Mash the cooked Chickpeas.

In a food processor, add all the above ingredients except parsley and blend them together.

Once the paste is smooth, transfer the Hummus in the serving dish and garnish it well with few cooked Chickpeas, Olive Oil, Paprika Powder and Parsley.

So easy and yummy.

Serve with Pita Bread and Lavash.

I have buttered the Pita Bread, toasted it on a griddle and seasoned it with Oregano and Chilli Flakes.

I always like to add my own touch and make things little more interesting ;)

I had already put the picture of the dish on Instagram before posting it on the blog and was very happy with the response it was getting so thought of taking a snapshot of it and posting it here :)
