Sabudana Khichdi by Saveen Kaur


Sabudana (Tapioca Sago) Khichdi is one of the best options for breakfast! 
Specially a must have for vegetarians since it is a rich source of Protein.
It's also rich in calcium and iron and has many more health benefits.
What's the best part is that it is super easy to make and can be made within minutes ☺️ Easy, healthy and tasty 👌

Serves 2

Ingredients -

  • 1 cup Sabudana (Soak it in water half an hour prior to making the dish) 
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 7-8 Curry Leaves 
  • 1 Potato 
  • 2 tbsp Peanuts 
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder 
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder 
  • Salt to taste
  • Half Lemon Juice 
  • 1-2 tsp Sugar as per taste 
  • 1 tbsp Oil


Method - 


  • In a Kadhai, add oil and let it heat for a minute.
  • Reduce the flame and add Curry Leaves and Green Chilli.
  • Add Mustard Seeds ( Rai ) and let it splutter.
  • Add Cumin Seeds ( Jeera ).
  • Add Peanuts and let it cook for a minute.
  • Add Potatoes.
Now there are two ways to add potatoes.
1. You dice them and put them directly.
It will take little longer to cook.
Or
2. You can either dice them and boil them in a separate vessel before hand and then strain them and add them while cooking Khichdi.
  • Mix in the Potatoes well.
  • Add Turmeric Powder (Optional) Chilli Powder and Salt as per taste. 
  • Mix in well. 
  • Add Soaked Sabudana and make sure to mix it well delicately. 
  • Add Lemon Juice and Sugar. 
  • Mix in well. 
  • Transfer the dish in the serving bowl or plate and garnish it with Coriander as shown in the picture. 
  • Serve hot and Relish ☺️
