Malvani Matar Paneer by Natasha Diddee



Malvani cuisine is the standard cuisine of the Konkan region of Maharashtra and Goa, and some northern parts of West Karnataka.


Ingredients :

Paneer - 500 gms
Frozen Peas - 200 gms
Ghee - 2 tbspns
Cumin seeds - 1 tspn
Curry leaves - 3 sprigs
Onions - 1 large, chopped fine
Garlic - 2 tspns, very finely chopped
Tomatoes - 2 large, chopped fine
Fresh coriander - a fistful, finely chopped 
Malvani masala - 3 tbspns 

Method:

1. Peal the peas and cube the paneer and set aside.
2. Heat ghee and add in cumin seeds and curry leaves and allow to sputter.
3. Add in garlic and once cooked, add in the onions and fry till they turn light brown.
4. Add in the tomatoes and the Malvani masala powder and cook till the tomatoes are pulpy and the masala is well fried.
5. Add in the peas and cook till done.
6. Lastly add in the cubed paneer/cottage cheese and fresh coriander and mix thoroughly 

Serve with hot rotis with a squeeze of lime juice.
