Vegetable Porridge

Nutritious and Healthy Vegetable Porridge!

Porridge is a dish made by boiling ground, crushed, or chopped cereal in water, milk, or both, with optional flavourings, usually served hot in a bowl or dish. 

Vegetable Porridge is made on a daily basis at our home. It is very healthy, easy to digest and also filling.

One of the best meal for weight watchers!


1 cup Lapsi or Broken Wheat
1 Carrot diced
8-10 French Beans diced
4-5 Curry leaves
2-3 Green Chillies
1 tbsp Ghee
1 tsp Salt or to taste
1 tsp Red Chilli powder
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
A pinch of Black Pepper Powder


Soak lapsi in water 15 minutes before cooking. 

Heat Ghee in a pressure cooker, add curry leaves, green chillies and mustard seeds. When the seeds splutter, add vegetables. 
Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and black pepper powder and mix well. 
Add soaked laps after draining out the water.
Add 1 glass water and pressure cook.
After 4-5 whistles, switch off the flame and let it be inside for a few minutes before opening the pressure cooker lid.

Serve hot!
