Dark Chocolate Cake Stars with Strawberry Icing

It was so much fun making these stars and even more delightful seeing my family enjoy it :)

I love stars so have made stars but you can make any other shape too as per your liking.

To make Choco Fudge Stars, you have to first make a Chocolate Sponge Cake, Then Dark Chocolate Icing and Then Strawberry Icing.

Chocolate Sponge Cake

Ingredients for a Chocolate Sponge Cake

1 + 1/4th cup flour
1 cup thick curd, you can use the readymade one available in the market.
1/3 cup melted dark chocolate
1 cup castor sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 tso baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla essence


Take a bowl, add curd, beat it slightly with a spoon to make it smooth and even, mix in sugar. Add baking powder and soda, add vanilla essence and oil and mix wekl. Add melted chocolate and fold in well. Add maida and mix it to make into a fine batter for the cake.
Pour the cake mix in a greased tin, round or square shape, whichever you prefer.
Bake it in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30 minutes or till done. Insert a knife to check whether it is done. If the knife comes out clean, it means the cake is ready and if not then wait till done. Keep it in the oven for a few minutes before removing it.

To make the Choco Fudge Stars -

Remove the cake from the tin, remove the crust ir topmost layer of the cake and shave off the sides. If you are making star shapes immediately, the cake is soft and moist, so then make it into rounds and flatten into squares.
Incase your going to make it after a few hours of baking the cake, then it will be hard, then cut into small squares directly, cut the squares into a star using star cookie cutter.

Dark Chocolate Icing


100 gms dark chocolate
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1-2 tsp water
1/2 tbsp icing sugar


Now make the icing by melting the dark chocolate using a double boiler, add little water and add vanilla essence and icing sugar.

Pour the icing over the stars, wait for a few minutes and sprinkle some icing sugar over it. Let it set for a few minutes in the freezer.

Once set then make strawberry icing and make a flower shape on the stars.
Keep it in the fridge till serving time.

To make Strawberry Icing


1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups icing sugar
1/2 tsp strawberry essence
1/2 tsp red edible color

Beat together the above ingredients till smooth, then pour it in the icing bag.

Your Choco Fudge Stars are ready :)
